A hundred years of journey full of dreams, debate on the past and present. On the afternoon of May 11, the finals and awards ceremony of the first "Starlight Cup" Debate Competition organized by the Student Affairs Office, undertaken by the Student Union of HNMMC, and co-organized by the Most Eloquent Debate Club, was held in the academic lecture hall of the library.
Lei Junlin, the Vice president of the college, attended the competition to present awards to the winners and delivered a speech. Zhu Dan, the Member of the College’s Party committee and Director of the Party committee’s Publicity and United Front Work Department, Wang Lihua,the Director of the Ideological and Political course Department, Xu Kejing, the Secretary of the Party branch of the School of Visual Arts, Ji Fugui, the Secretary of the Party branch of the School of New Media Technology, and Xu Changqing, the Associate Professor of the School of International Communication, served as judges for this competition. People present included Yang Huangjiang, the Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Management, Liu Pinni, the Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Film and Television Arts, Qian Ying, the Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Journalism and Communication, He Wei, the Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of International Communication, Peng Tao, the Director of the Student Affairs Departmrnt, and some teacher and student representatives.
At the finals, the team from the School of Film and Television Arts and the School of Management debated on “whether the Internet makes people closer or more distant. ” The debate was fierce and exciting, drawing continuous applause and cheers, and reaching to climax again and again.
It is reported that preparations for the first "Starlight Cup" debate competition began in December last year. After the class preliminaries, school preliminary rounds, college semi-finals, semi-finals, and finals, all debaters and instructors went all out to present their best. The team from the School and Management won the championship, followed by the School of Film and Television Arts and then the School of Journalism and Communication.
