Recently, The Division of International Exchange and the School of International Communication organized a series of activities-- "A Huxiang culture experience for International students". They travelled to Jinjing Tea Garden in Changsha County, Huxiang Provincial Museum and Huxiang Martyrs Park to experience the history culture and traditional tea culture of Hunan.
In Hunan Museum, the International students watched "Changsha Ma Wangdui Han Dynasty Tombs Exhibition", "Hunanese-Exhibition of Hunan History and Culture", "Finding a Homeland at the End of World — the Trans-Cultrue Exchanges and International between China and Italy from the 13th Century to the 16th Century" and so on. They were full of praise for the antiques, specimen, artworks, models and other exhibits, and had deeper inspiration about Huxiang history and culture. During the visit to the Martyrs Park, the international students experienced the beauty of Hunan traditional architecture art from the pavilions, the halls, as well as the waterside pavilions and boats. They comprehended the Huxiang spirit of "being a down-to-earth and pragmatic pioneer" in the commemorative area and the exhibition hall. In Jinjing Tea Garden, the international students attended the tea culture lecture, visited the tea garden, watched the tea art performance and joined the whole process of making tea, including picking tea leaves, tea manufacture, and making tea, which gave them an intuitive sense and comprehensive understanding of the essence of Huxiang traditional tea culture.
After the activities, the Division of International Exchange and the School of International Communication held a summary and report course. The International students actively spoke out their feelings and experience in the class, saying that through these activities, they had a close contact with Chinese traditional culture, improved their sociability in Chinese, learned the long history and culture of China and enhanced the sense of identity of Chinese culture. They fell in love with China in the process of appreciating and integrating into China, and determined to be an envoy of friendship for China and foreign countries.
