At the beginning of the semester in 2018, our college enrolled 5 German advanced students for 4-month Chinese language learning. In order to guarantee the teaching quality, the Division of International Exchanges and the School of International Communication enacted talent training program for international students. The students would separately study in the classes of different levels and be taught by the backbone teachers with solid specialty foundation, rich experience, high level of English and oversea working or studying experiences. Full-time instructors and liaison men of management work would be arranged for the international students. As for the curriculum setting, the School of International Communication set up culture and language courses for international students. The training program was formulated based on Chinese language teaching, considering culture communication as medium, and aiming at “understanding Chinese culture and making friends with the Chinese”. The culture courses covered China Panorama, Calligraphy, Tea Art, Chinese Paper Cutting, Chinese Martial Arts and so on. Language courses contained Elementary Chinese Listening Comprehension, Elementary Oral Chinese, Elementary Chinese Reading and Writing, Comprehensive Chinese and Chinese Characters Chinese Integrated Curriculum. These courses could not only help the students study Chinese but also enabled them to further understand Chinese customs, cultural characteristics, geographical conditions, and historic culture. In this way, they would have thorough experiences of Chinese long-standing history and culture and turned into the envoy of friendship for the communication between China and other countries. The education work of international exchange and international promotion of Chinese has been always targeting at being a good storyteller and spreader of Chinese culture, expanding our “circle of friends”, and integrating the awareness of human “community of common destiny” into the hearts of people around the world. In recent years, the college has made great efforts to build the base for international Promotion of Chinese Language and Cluture set by Hanban in Hunan, innovatively carried out the“ Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students annually, enrolled international students and implemented training special talents in national media specialty for the countries along “ One Belt and One Road”. HNMMC now has 8 international students from Germany, South Africa, Senegal, Madagascar and other countries.
