On December 9th, my college held the Teaching Assembly in 2017. Present at the meeting were the college leaders, including Yuan Weikkun, Ma Yujun, Liu Guoqing, Jiang Minquan, He Zhanbing, Cheng Guizhen, Xu Jingxue, Lei Junlin and Xie Jingwei, and the guests, including Yu Weiliang, director of the Office for Vocational Education and Adult Education in the Education Department of Hunan Province, and Zhang Shiying, Vice President of Changsha University. 423 people attended this meeting, including department-level directors, leaders of the teaching units and delegates of the teachers and retired staff. Vice presidents Lei Junlin and He Zhanbing hosted the meeting successively, and Ma Yujun, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee and the President of the college, delivered the report on teaching work with the theme of “emphasizing the central position of teaching, strengthening teaching management, making efforts to the sound and fast development of the college by promoting the connotation and development”.
Yu Weiliang made a speech to congratulate the opening of the assembly. In his address, Yu fully affirmed the achievements of the college in keeping to the socialist educational orientation, setting high moral values and cultivating people, focusing on teaching, optimizing the specialty structure, deepening the teaching reform and strengthening teaching management. He hoped that through this meeting, the college will make the central position of teaching more prominent and proactively adapt to the modern society, economic growth, technological revolution and the demand for industrial changes. Great efforts should be made to regularize professional layout, rationalize the teaching management mechanism, promote the construction and the self-operation skills of the teachers team in order to comprehensively improve the educational quality, increase the happiness of teaching staff, and achieve the development goal of the college with stronger comprehensive strength.
In Zhang Shiying’s address, he proposed that Changsha University and my college should deepen the cooperation in industry-education integration, cultivation of students’ practical ability and resource sharing by developing side by side. And he sent best wishes for a better future of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College.
Ma Yujun delivered the report on teaching work with the theme of “emphasizing the central position of teaching, strengthening teaching management, making efforts to the sound and fast development of the college by promoting the connotation and development”. In the report, he made an overall review on the achievements in specialty structure optimization, teaching reform, practical teaching, and teaching management and quality improvement. Moreover, he pointed out the current situation and existing issues of my college and put forward opinions on the teaching work in the next two years.
Ma Yujun indicated that to carry out the teaching work of the next two years, we firstly need to pay great attention to talent cultivation as the fundamental task and give prominence to the central position of teaching work. Secondly, we have to proactively meet the demand of social development and make sensible plans of the specialty layout. Thirdly, efforts should be made in teaching staff construction and improving teaching incentive mechanism. Fourthly, the teaching reform should be deepened by innovating the talent cultivation mode. Fifthly, practical teaching work need to be reinforced by cultivating skilled talents. Sixthly, the teaching management mechanism should be adjusted orderly so as to increase the level of management and service.
Ma Yujun emphasized that teaching work was the permanent theme of the college, teaching quality was the lifeblood of the teaching work, faculty is the basic guarantee of the teaching quality, and “setting high moral values and cultivating people” was the basic task of the teaching work.
Ma Yujun hoped that this assembly would further stimulate the faculty’s senses of responsibility, mission and honor and accelerate the connotative, characteristic and harmonious development of the college.
The assembly held the panel discussions on eight aspects, including “system construction of the teaching quality and monitoring security”, “teaching management work of the two-level management by the college and schools”, “specialty and curriculum construction”, “moral and ethic construction of the teaching staff”, “practical teaching work”, “intelligent campus construction and teaching application of information technology”, “students education and the construction of the style of the study”, and “the construction of study engagement and campus civilization”.
At the meeting, Li Gaihu, director of the personnel department of the college, made explanation of the implementation plans for the two-level management by the college and the schools. Zhu Lin, director of the Dean’s Office, made a report on the condition of the panel discussions.
Commendation was given to the prominent teachers and the winning teams in teaching projects at the meeting. Liu Guoqing, deputy secretary of the college Party Committee, read the “the Prominent Teachers Recognition Decision of 2017”. Zhu Yanlin and other 29 comrades obtained the honorary title of “the Prominent Teacher of 2017”.
On behalf of commended teachers, Ni Dong, teacher of the School of Visual Art, made a statement. He emotionally recalled the life choice of being a teacher in the college and the enrichment and wonderfulness that the occupation gave to him. He also declared that he would spurred himself on with higher standard and requirement in pursuit of unceasing progress and being an intelligent teacher living up to people’s expectation.
Yuan Weikun, the Secretary of the College Party Committee delivered an important speech. He stressed the importance of teachers in teaching tasks, considering that “teacher is the basis of setting up education and the source of promoting education”. We must do a good job in education and teaching work. First, we must firmly grasp the basic task of “setting high moral values and cultivating people”. Second, we should set up a core concept of considering the front-line teachers as the main dedicators in teaching and running a college. The third is to fully advocate the value orientation on the basis of the job achievements. Fourth, we must strive to achieve the integration of the individual goals and the organizational goals, acting, teaching and running the college in accordance with the law.
Comrade Yuan Weikun called on the faculty to take this assembly as an opportunity, setting an attitude of masters to build a better college, forging ahead and working hard. Attention should be paid to further strengthen teaching management, deepen the teaching reform and enhance the central position of teaching so as to have a solid grasp of the basic demands for setting high moral values and cultivating people. We should be dedicated to improving the teaching level and the talent cultivation quality in order to achieve the college development goals.
The successful opening of the teaching assembly in 2017 is a vital meeting for the college in accelerating the construction of the "excellent college" and in striving for the "Double Tops ". It is conducive to the whole college gathering strength, insisting on the beginner’s mind, and struggling forward with no fear.
