On the night of November 8th, the sharing session of the Summer Work & Travel USA for College Students in 2017 was held in D101 classroom of the Teaching Building . The session included Wangtao, Director of the Division of International Exchanges, Qianying, Secretary of General Party Branch in the School of International Communication, Lixuan, Vice Director of the Division of International Exchanges, and over 300 faculty and students from the School of International Communication, the School of Management, the School of Visual Arts.

The School of International Communication’s Tangyuan in Class 1503 of Business English Specialty and Shu Wenji in Class 1501 of the Modern Communication Specialty respectively introduced their experiences of studying, working and living in the US and shared their stories and feelings at the meeting. According to their speeches, after the three-month life and social practice in America, they not only experienced the differences between Chinese and American cultures, which was helpful to broaden their horizons and cultivate their earnest working attitude, the ability to living independently and adaptability, but also gained strong will and international friendship and learned to be grateful and interdependent. In particular, they acquired the precious experiences of social practice overseas. What’s more, using the knowledge they had learned in classroom into the real workplace made them better prepared for getting jobs or even starting up business in the future. Exquisite slide shows and attractive words were so compelling that the students present were actively engaged in the interaction and absorbed the knowledge and experience from their sharing.
It is reported that the Summer Work & Travel USA for College Students is a three-month internship for students in American enterprises in summer holidays. The enterprises spread all over America, mainly covering the theme parks, restaurants and hotels. The participants can spend their spare time experiencing the local life and customs of the United States. The college recommended this project to students for the first time in 2017, aiming to broaden their horizons, fostering their cross-cultural communicative competences and competitiveness and improving the overall quality of the individual. Meanwhile, it can further strengthen the international communication and cooperation of the college and improve the quality of the talent cultivation. In 2017, 9 students voluntarily signed up the project, passed the interview, and participated in the project finally.
