In the afternoon of October 12th, the inaugural meeting of Micro-text Club in the School of Journalism and Communication was held in Academic Hall of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College. In the meeting, Professor Yang Weimin, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Senior Editor in Hunan Broadcasting System, was engaged as the counselor of the club. Lao Guanghui, Director of the School of Journalism and Communication issued the letter of appointment to him. Xu Kejing, Secretary of Youth League Committee in Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College and some teachers and students attended the meeting.

Micro-text Club aims at severing students, guiding campus opinions, shaping the healthy image of the college, constructing a network-culture and spreading positive energy. There are professional teachers arranged by the club to guide micro-text creation and exchanges. It is a platform for students to create, exchange ideas and learn. It is also a platform for the college to publicize and display the spiritual outlook of its students and its dynamic developments.
In the ceremony, professor Yang Weimin fully affirmed the establishment of Micro-text Club and delivered a wonderful lecture on Micro-text Writing and Appreciation. He said that with the rapid development of information technology, the world entered an unprecedented “micro era”, where micro-text emerged. Micro-text is also a literary style with great significance and promising future, which is worthwhile to pay highly attention to. Professor Yang explained the origin, characteristics, writing and appreciation of micro-text, which activated students’ enthusiasm for micro-text writing and aroused their interests in joining Micro-text Club.
