In the morning of November 3rd, it was cool and sunny and colorful flags were fluttering around the campus. With people nationwide celebrating the 19th National People’s Congress of the Communist Party of China, at a moment filled with unity, endeavor and friendship, the 17th Track and Field Sports Meeting & the 14th Faculty Sports Meeting of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College was successfully launched.
Lei Junlin, Vice President of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College was the chairperson of the opening ceremony. Yuan Weikun, Ma Yujun, Liu Guoqing, Jiang Mingquan, He Zhanbing, Cheng Guizhen, Xie Jingwei and people in charge of the schools, teaching departments and relevant offices attended the ceremony.
In his impassioned opening remarks, President Ma Yujun expected to demonstrate campus culture and spiritual outlook and advocate the sportsmanship of tenacity, unity, cooperation, taking friendship as the first priority and putting competition to the second place in the sports meeting. He also expected the athletes to advocate the Olympic spirits of higher, faster and stronger and participant in the sports meeting in a safe and civilized manner. Yuan Weikun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College, announced the opening of the sports meeting. 2,000 balloons, symbolizing youth, hope, dream and love, were released to the air by volunteers. Carrying the hope and dream of all faculties, the balloons flew higher and higher. They also showed the wish for China to be stronger and more prosperous.
The entrance performance was splendid. There were performance formations from six schools of the college, dancing with youth and charm. Their performance displayed the melody of cheerful life and the rhythm of vigorous youth, wining audience’s cheer and applause. They provided a spectacular show for all the leaders, teachers and students in the opening ceremony. Publicity Department of the Party Committee arranged the campus TV station to have a Wechat live broadcast of the ceremony, which received a lot of good comments inside and outside the campus.
The 14th Faculty Fun Sports Meeting was held at the same time. There were 12 teams competing in 6 group projects for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes and the “Best Organization Award”.
There were altogether 642 athletes in the student sports meeting competing in 22 projects.
Creativity lights up your life. The sports meeting added the elements of tradition and innovation. Sports make life more colorful and sports make people more healthy. Youth will coexist with cheer forever. Let’s wait for the athletes to carry on the spirit of being courageous to struggle and compete, pursuing excellence and self-transcendence and watch the spectacular annual sports event.
